The Vu+ Duo has rocked the Satellite Receiver world and it comes with a 1 Tb Hard Disk Drive built in.

This is the Linux receiver we've all been waiting for! A real contender to the Dreambox DM8000 and the Ultraplus F-9000 HD PVR,  that (legally) runs the Enigma2 open source firmware. There is the choice of:- the manufacturers firmware, VTI firmware, PLi firmware and now the Dream-Elite team. Within each firmware there is a choice of skins. (The layout and graphics of the screen displays.  Something to suit any users requirements. Hence there is excellent 3rd party image support on the web and the popularity of the Vu+ ensures this will not wain. See here

The outstanding features of this receiver is its very sensitive tuner, the best quality output we have seen from a satellite receiver, the less than 1 watt power consumption on standby mode, ability to accept all pay to view cards including SKY, the twin tuner multiple program recording and editing functions, the internet video download options like Tivo and the quality and construction of the receiver. 

Crystal clear HD picture, two card readers and two CI slots. Internal and external HDD is possible via SATA connection. One front and two rear USB ports. Rear Ethernet 10/100 connection. Linux operating system using  Enigma2 open source. Standby consumption is only 1 watt. English language manual supplied. Note This receiver is a real high-end contender and has already built up a MASSIVE third party support.

Extended EPG (electronic program guide). Not found on similar receivers the New Zealand sold receivers will have all the 8 day EPG for both SKYe and Freeview off Optus D1 and also off C1/D3 so that you can record / book programmes for later replay.  There is also time slip functioning.  

Hard Disk Drives are sold separately for each individual requirement. This receiver can have up to two drives and full access to recorded files (even in HD) are directly available to transfer to a Computer for editing and burning to DVD or BlueRay.

Please Note: This box is has other outstanding features to which the competent enthusiasts with knowledge of networking, FTP, and Telnet/SSH can experiment with, by modifying the open Linux software. eg linking receivers and storage systems.
