QUESTIONS & ANSWERS relating to Satellite receivers
Q: If I am having problems with getting the Coship receiver to work, should I reset the receiver to the manufacturers default setting
A: No you should not as you will loose all the NZ settings. Firstly look for a problem in either your aerial connections, the LNB frequency (the thingy that points at the dish) not being set - see instructions with the receiver to change, or finally the dish being off alignment. This happens occassionally. Consult with your retailer or the help number listed on this web site and they can further advise on the best solution.

Q: Im getting a “7U” displaying on the Coship receiver and nothing seems to respond. Whats the fix?
A: You have inadvertantly pushed the TV/AV button. By repressing it, the remote is restored to full function. Good to stop the kids playing with the remote.

Q: Can I use an unused SKY Dish to receive FreeView?
A: Yes you can and you DO NOT have to touch or reposition the dish. Just Plug in the pretuned Coship receiver and its all go - straight off.

Q: Does this do DVB-S MPEG-4?
A: No only MPEG2. This is the standard for FreeView and all thats coming down from the D1 Satellite including SKYS signals at this stage.

Q: What outputs are available on the Coship?
A: There are RCA connections for Compostite Video and Stereo Sound. On Coship model after 1 May 07 there is video output from the scart connector for Component Video YbRbGb on flyng RCA leads. Most suitable for LCD and Plasma Widescreen TV’s providing the best quality video.

Q: Are these the offical Freeview approved boxes?
A: These COSHIP units are compatible and dont have MHEG5. There are two units (Hills & Zinwell /DSE) compliant approved. Whats the difference? . . The biggie is price difference. On screen programme wise visually nothing. All have TELETEXT (except Hills) and all have EPG. Differences in unit size and remotes. No quality difference. On the Coship the EPG page layout is different and its the only one with a time line showing 6 channels at once. One page display, the others 3 pages to get the same info.

Q: Will the Coship 2500E unit do more than one channel at a time? Say, watch TV1 while recording TV2.
A: No not the Coship 2500E
Q: What is EPG?
A: EPG stands for Extended Programme Guide. It provides an 8 day display or listing on screen / screens including programme name, date, time and programme synopsis.

Q: Does it have the offical Freeview epg or a Coship version? What is MHEG5 connection?
A: The Coship receiver has a VERY GOOD EPG but not MHEG5 which replaces and does the same function with a different display format of the Extendard Programme Guide. There are other parts of MHEG5 which puts in intrusive advertising. There are other buttons which when entered to get further information, lock the screen up and make it difficult to escape back into the viewing screen. Surveys in the UK have found that there is a trend to not buy receivers with this function. This is why in our research, we decided not to put MHEG5 in the Coship 2500E for NZ FreeView.

Q: Would I still be able to view all Sky channels on this as well as Freeview. I don't think Sky would approve of me installing a receiver of a different brand and returning their own decoder.
A: No it cant get the SKY channels at all - only the FreeView Channels. Both use the same Optus D1 Satellite. SKY encrypts their signal and you can only receive their Pictures and sound on their receiver box. This FreeView receiver only receives the free unencrypted signals.

Q: Can I connect my Sky receiver and the Coship to the same dish?
A: Yes you can with a choice of two methods: 1. Connect the dish to the Coship receiver and with the receivers loop output run a cable to the Sky Satellite Aerial input. 2. Use a splitter in the cable from the dish to feed the both signals.
Q: What is involved in connecting it up? I have the Sky Digital dish already. Does it need a technician? Or are there enough instructions included with the box? Does the decoder, or in this case MySky, have to be disconnected each time one wants to watch the Freeview?
A: Easy to connect. The Coship receiver has a loop output. Run a new aerial cable from the Coships loop out to the Sky receiver LNB in. You can run both receivers connected together & view individually selected ch's on different TV’s. A second method is to split the signal with a splitter box and feed each receiver’s LNB inputs. This also allows independant viewing.
